I'm so glad that you decided to share...Andrew,

I'm so glad that you decided to share. I have added your link to the synchroblog list and would appreciate you adding all the links to the end of your post so that people who enjoy your post will have the opportunity to connect with the other synchroblog contributors.

I am appalled but not surprised with what you shared as unfortunately I think it is happening a lot in evangelical churches these days.

Like you, if I have to hear a sermon on government or politics, I'd like it to be more biblical and focus on what scripture has to say about government ... such as how the prophets of the old testament called on kings and rulers and even employers to stand up for the cause of the poor and marginalized, or how to pray for our government as in Psalm 72 in which the psalmist prays for God to endow the rulers of the land with God's justice and compassion so they would stand up for the poor, help those in need and crush oppressors.

I was also thankful that you pointed out how ridiculous it is to think of the U.S. or an elected official of the U.S. as being so important to the condition of the kingdom of God and how the church tends to become corrupt when it has power and influence.

I had heard of the book you mentioned but haven't yet read it. I will definitely pick up a copy of it now as you have piqued my interest.

Thanks again for your post and for submitting it to the synchroblog.Lizhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02460971267048638389noreply@blogger.com
